Welcome to Royal Biryani Restaurant, where the essence of authentic Indian cuisine comes alive in the heart of Montreal. Nestled at 1550 Blvd. De Maisonneuve Ouest, this culinary gem invites you to embark on a flavor journey that's both comforting and exhilarating.
No other place caters to the rice lover quite like Royal Biryani Restaurant. The array of biryanis on the menu is a testament to the chef's dedication and expertise. Each grain is cooked to perfection, enveloped in fragrant spices that transport you straight to India. As voiced by our loyal customer, Firas Abo Touk, "the rice is very delicious" – a sentiment echoed by many who frequent this establishment.
The welcoming atmosphere is equally impressive. Under the stewardship of Chief Ahsan, guests are met with warmth and generosity. His passion for cooking shines, and it’s not uncommon to see him greeting diners with a smile. New staff member, Mr. Hamidullah, has also made a mark with his friendly demeanor and dedication to service, adding to the restaurant's inviting vibe.
But it's not just biryani that steals the show here. As many satisfied patrons like Dalia have discovered, the butter chicken has a perfect balance: creamy, flavorful, and never too heavy. No wonder Dalia felt her choice was the best decision during her rush!
Vegetarians and vegans will feel right at home as well. As noted by Kyrie Wang, the selections accommodate all preferences without compromising on flavor or quality. Freshly baked naan, split with a Thali, delivers a delightful harmony of textures, perfect for a light meal or an afternoon snack.
Hidden beneath the bustling streets, Royal Biryani Restaurant may lack flashy décor, but its culinary offerings make it truly legendary. Yiğit Akalın describes it as "Montréal’s Hidden Indian Gem," and we couldn't agree more. With every bite of the butter chicken or samosas, you're reminded why this spot is worthy of your attention.
Whether you're a local or just passing through, Royal Biryani Restaurant promises a dining experience that's both enriching and satisfying. With affordable prices, a splendid selection, and a friendly face to greet you, it's high time you immersed yourself in this flavorful haven. Don’t just take our word for it; come visit and prepare to be captivated!

“ Very nice restaurant. Rice very delicious. Mr. Ahsan is the Chief. He is very gentle, nice and friendly. He always welcoming and generous with his customers. Mr. Hamidullah is very friendly new comer from Afghanistan. He works very hard to serve the customers. I really recommend eating here. I eat here every week. Any rice lover should come have a visit ”
“ I was in a rush and was craving something filling, healthy (that I know what I'm eating, not calorie wise) and stopping here was the best decision. I've had a fair share of Indian food and the butter chicken that I ate there was so good! Some places make the sauce too thick or way too heavy, but this sauce had a nice balance. Also, I'm very picky with chicken and the chicken there was so clean and perfectly cooked. It didn't have a strong taste, rather it absorbed the flavour of the sauce quite nicely! Definitely worth the 9$! ”
“ Delicious little joint with vegan and vegetarian options. Naan BAKED FRESH per order! Splitting one Thali was perfect for a late afternoon snack. My daughter said "I wish I can live here" lol. We will be back ”
“ I walked in and the guys were super nice and helped me figure out what I wanted. The butter chicken was ok but I absolutely loved the samosas. And the prices are really good. I will be going back! ”
“ Montréal’s Hidden Indian Gem You’ve probably walked right past it — most people do. It’s tucked underground, staring directly at a metro entrance, with zero flash and barely any ambience. But let me tell you… this place is legendary. I’ve had butter chicken in multiple cities — from fancy downtown spots to beloved hole-in-the-walls — but nothing has touched the one I had here. Oh mama. Creamy, rich, perfectly spiced, with that subtle smoky depth that too many places just miss. Every bite hit like a warm uppercut of comfort food glory. And then the kicker: student prices. Real, honest, no-gimmick student pricing. It’s connected to a university metro stop, so it’s clearly made for the campus crowd. But don’t let that fool you — the quality punches way above the price tag. This isn’t some candlelit date-night spot. It’s plastic trays, fast turnover, and minimal decor. But the food? The food is worth making a detour for. Even if you’re just visiting Montréal — especially if you are — give this place a shot. Because once you taste that butter chicken, you’re gonna remember it. ”
